Good food equals good mood. And the mood in Makarska is always good. It is probably because we are surrounded by great local food and even better people who prepare it. Every visit to the market is an inspiration and every dinner is an experience worth repeating. We want you to experience what we experience daily.
Dalmatian cuisine is a curious and delicious mix of history and authentic local ingredients. Freshly caught fish, great meat, sage, bay leaves, rosemary, basil, olive oil … the possibilities are endless. Our local cuisine is a result of centuries of exploration and picking up various influences, from ancient Greece and Rome, all the way to Napoleon and the Austro-Hungarian monarchy.

Despite the heavy historical heritage, our local cuisine is very simple in its nature, yet extremely tasty. Local ingredients, olive oil, aromatic spices, fresh herbs and wild plants are combined with various meat, fish and vegetarian recipes that have been preserved and perfected through generations.
One local ingredient truly stands out – it is the bura and jugo wind. Made from the finest pork meat, bura and jugo are responsible for drying the famous Dalmatian prosciutto. It takes up to two years for the prosciutto to mature and be served.
We are here to help you find the best local food, at places where we love to eat. Places that serve dishes like pašticada, zubatac (tooth fish), calamari and many others that symbolize local lifestyle. These places present the very best of local nature – in a plate right in front of you.
